Appointment of Directors (IDV compliant)
Mandatory identity verification (IDV) requirements set out in the Economic Crime & Corporate Transparency Act 2023 (ECCTA) go live for individuals who are appointed as new directors on 18th November 2025. This is a new requirement that companies and individual directors must adhere to when appointing a director. Directors must have their identity verified before they can be appointed and there will be potential civil and criminal penalties for failure to do so. The voluntary period for IDV opened on 8th April 2025. IDV applies to all directors, irrespective of their nationality or where they are resident.
Existing directors will IDV during a 12-month transition period beginning on 18th November 2025 and tied to each company's confirmation date filing.
