eSign: Complete Step-by-Step Guide

This guide walks you through the full eSign process - from registering to sending your document for electronic signature.

Getting Started

Create Your Account

  • You’ll need an account to access eSign features.
  • Go to Register and fill in your details.
  • Once registered, you’ll be directed to your My Account dashboard.

Choose a Subscription

  • eSign is included in all subscriptions.
  • Pick the document package that suits you and pay securely via Worldpay.
  • Your subscription is active immediately.

Prepare Your Document

Before uploading:

  • Ensure your document is ready for electronic signing.
  • Leave clear blank space for signatures.
  • You can optionally omit signer names and dates from your document - these can be added automatically later at the signature stage.
Once your document is ready, follow these five stages to send it for e-signature:

Stage 1: Upload Your Document for E-Signature

Go to the eSign Control page via My Account.
You can either:

  • Click Upload File from Device, or
  • Upload a File from your Document Storage.

Select Choose File, then Upload File.

Stage 2: Create Message for Signatories

Enter the Subject details and message content. This message appears in the email sent to the signer(s). Then press Proceed.

Stage 3: Add Signatories’ Names and Emails

Enter the details of everyone who needs to sign by selecting :

  • Use “+Add 3rd Party Signatories” to include others.
  • Use “+Add Myself as a Signatory” if you need to sign the document yourself.

You must enter both name and email for each signatory.

Other options include:

  • Auto-inserting the signer's name into the document
  • Auto-inserting the date of signing

When you have completed this, select Proceed.

Stage 4: Place Signature Locations on Document

  • Use the “Select Recipient” dropdown to toggle between signers.
  • Click anywhere on the document to place a signature box.
  • Resize the box if needed by dragging the corners.

Stage 5: Send for E-Signature

Click Send.

Each signatory will receive an email from eSign4Business with a secure link to sign.

To keep Simply-Docs anonymous during the signing process, all signature request emails are sent under the eSign4Business brand.

The example below shows how the email will appear to recipients:
